Privacy coins, like Monero, Zcash, and Dash feature cutting edge applied cryptography, like ring signatures and zk-SNARKs. Interestingly enough, a lot of the privacy coin technology will also make it to the other, more mainstream, cryptos: bulletproofs in Bitcoin and zk-SNARKS in Ethereum. Thus, there’s lots to learn even if you don’t follow the pure privacy coins!
